A jet transporting the US defense secretary was required to make an unplanned landing in the United Kingdom on Wednesday due to a fissure was discovered in the jet's front window, per an official announcement which verified that all passengers were secure.

"The jet landed in accordance with standard protocol and everyone onboard, such as Defense Secretary Hegseth, is safe," a spokesperson said in a public statement.

He was traveling back from a brief trip to the Belgian capital at the time.

This incident does not mark the initial instance that a United States armed forces jet transporting a senior official has suffered equipment failures.

Months ago, a American military jet carrying Marco Rubio to Munich was required to head back to Washington after encountering a technical issue.
